Living in a world in which the idea of having a conversation about the role of formal education in lifelong learning is not something people laugh at.
Routinely having conversations with those around me about complex issues that all parties gave great thought to.
Conversations that allow for the expression of contrary opinion and also don't end in shouting.
Being surrounded by people who want to exchange ideas and challenge their own ways of thinking.
Having a forum in which to share thoughts with those I cared about and have them listen and respond with something other than "oh my gosh you're so weird only you would think of that."
"Only you would think of that".?? Why is that an insult? If the insight an individual has to offer is truly unique, shouldn't it be considered, examined, and discussed, rather than dismissed and ridiculed?
I wish people took me seriously. And I wish people devoted their time to the conversations that are truly worthwhile.
It's awfully lonely here.
